The Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar has officially announced the opening of the 2025-2026 vanilla export campaign, marking an important new stage for the country’s strategic vanilla sector.
- Export season: October 15, 2025 - June 30, 2026
- New licensing requirement: All exporters must reapply for their export permits (agrément), including those who previously held valid licenses.
- Application period: November 11-30, 2025
- Quality control: New inspections of warehouses and preparation facilities will be conducted to ensure full compliance, traceability, and product quality.
- Policy change: The previous $4/kg export levy has been officially abolished and will no longer be required as part of export documentation.
These updates, introduced under the leadership of the new Minister of Trade, reflect a strong commitment to transparency, professionalism, and international confidence in the Malagasy vanilla sector - an economy that supplies over 70% of the world’s natural vanilla.
We welcome these positive developments. They represent a crucial step toward strengthening sector reliability, supporting small farmers, and ensuring that Madagascar Vanilla continues to be recognized globally as the benchmark of quality and authenticity.
