On January 12, 2026, the US House of Representatives approved the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which allows eligible African countries to export goods to the United States duty free.
The AGOA extension has been approved for an additional three years, until December 31, 2028. This decision represents a major step in strengthening trade relations between Africa and the United States, while supporting sustainable exports, job creation and investment in Madagascar.
The Act will become fully effective following final approval by the US Senate.
This means a more stable and predictable framework for exporting premium Madagascar vanilla to the US market, while continuing to meet high standards of traceability, certification and long term partnerships.
We welcome this positive development and thank the Ministry of Trade and Consumption of Madagascar and all stakeholders involved.
